Many who have bought a JCV HDD-camera have had problems importing their videofiles into editing software, especially on Mac OS X. I found there to be a quick and easy solution, when wanting to import into Final Cut Pro, a solution which might not be 100% perfect for all users. But with almost no quality loss, and a "converting"-time close to none, it could serve as a good solution for many.
This guide has been tested with .TOD videofiles from a JVC HDD Everio GZ-HD5E.
Before you start, you'll need the free software, MPEG Streamclip. Download the lastest version from Macupdate, VersionTracker or the official MPEG Streamclip-site at Squared 5.
Step 1
Open MPEG Streamclip. Load the .TOD file. Two boxes will appear: In the first select Fix Now, in the second select Proceed.

Step 2
Go to File > Convert to MPEG

Step 3
Now, when you import the converted file into Final Cut Pro, there will be no audio. So keep on reading if you want audio.
With the same .TOD videofile still in MPEG Streamclip. Go to File > Export Audio. Use AIFF for most accurate synchronization.

A few words
This guide is not perfect for anyone. The lenght of the audio track might not be the same as the video track. But it suits my needs, and I bet it will suit others as well. If you have any comments on this, or any other methods, do so below! I know there are many methods of actually converting, to DV and such, but whatever takes more than a few seconds is not of interest here. Anyway, only relevant comments, please.
